Shakira Welcomes Second Child

Shakira has confirmed she and her boyfriend Gerard Piqué have welcomed their second child together.

The couple released a statement on Thursday evening, confirming the birth of their son. It is understood Shakira, 37, gave birth at a hospital in Barcelona yesterday (29 January), where she underwent a scheduled Caesarean section.


Another statement is expected to be released by the couple today revealing the baby's name.

In August 2014, the singer confirmed she was pregnant with her second child. She and footballer Piqué, 27, have been in a relationship since 2010, but they did not confirm their romance until March 2011. In September 2012, the pair announced they were expecting their first child together. Their son, Milan, was born in January 2013.
