The model and footballer had been together for five years, but last week there was speculation their romance had ended.
According to the New York Post, a representative for Ms Shayk is quoted as saying: "We can confirm that Irina Shayk has ended her relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo."
No reason for the split has been given but it had been claimed that the model had a tense relationship with the footballer's mother. However, the agent added: "She [Irina] has been very close to his family throughout their relationship. Any negative rumors about Irina and Ronaldo's family are completely false and have not been a factor in the cause of the split. Irina has no comments at the moment."
Last week, local media in Portugal, the Correio de Manha explained that trouble for the couple started when Ms Shayk refused to attend a surprise 60th birthday party for her partner's mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro.
A source was quoted by the newspaper as saying: "Cristiano wanted to surprise his mum and as he spent Christmas with Irina in Dubai, he had planned to be with his mum on her birthday, but Irina didn't want to go.
"They had such a big row that he ended up spending New Years Eve alone with his son. Irina mouthed off about Dolores and Ronaldo took sides with him mum. It was the straw that broke the camel's back because they hadn't been getting on well in the last few months."
They added: "Dolores thinks Irina wasn't the right woman for Ronaldo's son. She wanted someone who would, in the future, assume the role of mum for Cristiano Jr. That wasn't a priority for Irina."
Ronaldo and Shayk, both 29, started dating in 2010. Alongside his mother, Ronaldo raises his four-year-old son, Cristiano Jr. The identity of the boy's mother has never been revealed.
