The singer reiterated this in an emotional tribute to the actress in his first concert after the split.
"For y'all that don't know me and my wife separated, but I'm trying to get my girl back. She's a good woman," told the heartbroken singer to his audience at the gig on Thursday evening, before sang Lost Without U and admitted he had written the song for his wife.
Early in the day Thicke also told TMZ photograph he is "just trying to get her back".
A source told Us Weekly: "Robin wanted to save their marriage, but it was Paula's choice and she ended it. Robin does not want this divorce. Robin was not blindsided - he knew this was coming out. But he was committed to saving their marriage. He didn't want this."
