UK Wedding News

Figures by the Home Office, which were obtained by The Sun, revealed that 7,606 weddings or civil partnerships were reported as potentially suspicious to officials in the first 10 months of 2013.
However, of those found to be taking part in sham weddings, just 90 were deported.
The report also revealed how Home Office analysts said the four main non-European nationalities involved in sham marriages were Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nigerian. Men made up more than eight out of 10 of the non-European half of the couple, and were often found to be attempting to marry someone from a newer eastern European state.
The paper claimed that British men are being conned into a marriage by Thai, Filipino and Malaysian women, but are then quickly divorced when their 'brides' accuse them of domestic violence. For women, they are being tricked by men from countries such as Tunisia, Morocco and the Gambia, who then walk out on their marriage as soon as they are granted residency in the UK.
Commenting on the figures, Labour's immigration spokesman David Hanson is quoted as saying: "People want the rules enforced. These figures show the Government isn't doing that."
While Delene Alouane, of Immigration Marriage Fraud UK, told The Sun newspaper: "People are being schooled in how to get through the loopholes in Britain — and nothing is being done to stop it."
Earlier this year, an official report warned that sham marriages were a "massive loophole" in Britain's border controls, leading to a "golden ticket" into the country for immigrants.
It is understood the number of sham marriages in the UK had increased by 60% in 2012.
