Yesterday, the Formula 1 heiress confirmed she was pregnant with her first child.
Speaking to the MailOnline, the 29-year-old admitted: "This has been the best year ever."
She added that she would like a little girl and hopes her child can be close to her sister's baby daughter, Lavinia.
"I want them to be as close as me and my sister. And I would just love to have a little girl who would be super close to Lavinia.
"There's only going to be a year between my baby and Lavinia so that would be amazing. Lavinia is the cutest little pooch in the world. I'm definitely going to find out the sex! I need to know, I need to plan.
"It's nice to have a surprise, but I couldn't cope with not knowing for the next six months!
"Having the scan was the most exciting, most amazing experience in the world. I'm not very emotional, but both Jay and I cried."
She continued: "I want to be very hands on like my sister with Lavinia, I'm in a new phase of my life and I'm oddly excited about waking up and feeding and changing and all that bonding stuff – I wouldn't want anyone else to do it. That's what I signed up for now, so I'm ready."
Ecclestone tied the knot with 32-year-old former stockbroker Jay Rutland in June this year. They held an extravagant four-day ceremony on the French Rivera to mark their union, before holding a smaller service in London to make their marriage official.
They announced their engagement in February 2013 – just one month after they started dating.
