The couple, who are rumoured to have split and reunited a number of times over the past few years, are said to have called time on their relationship as they decide whether they are better off going their separate ways.
A source is quoted by the website as saying: "They've split for now. Miley and Liam have a very tumultuous relationship and both are exhausted. It's a complicated relationship. The wedding is on hold, for now. It's not cancelled but it doesn't look promising."
The speculation comes after 20-year-old Cyrus was said to have "unfollowed" her partner on Twitter over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Hemsworth has also recently come under allegations that he has been 'sexting' actress January Jones. He has since denied the claims, but it is not the first time he has been linked to Jones – the couple were reported to have kissed at a pre-Oscar party in February.
Speaking about Hemsworth and Cyrus, another source added to Us Weekly: "They're just weeks away from calling it off permanently. Liam feels very distant emotionally from Miley these days."
Cyrus and Hemsworth met on the set for movie The Last Song and began dating in July 2009. In August 2010, it was confirmed the couple had split up. They rekindled their relationship and in June 2012, Cyrus revealed the couple were engaged.
