According to In Touch Weekly, the 43-year-old No Doubt singer and her husband, Gavin Rossdale, are said to be delighted at the news.
A source is quoted by the magazine as saying: "Gwen and Gavin couldn't be happier. She's just trying to focus on resting right now. She wants to make sure that all is well with the baby."
Stefani has previously spoken about wanting a third child, admitting that she and Rossdale, 47, had been trying for another baby in 2010.
She said: "I really, really, really wanted one. It didn't really work out. So I feel good with what we've got. Everything works out how it should. You can't plan everything, right? You can try."
The singer has also said her greatest achievement in life is her family.
"My biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far. Because it's hard, everyone knows it's hard. Marriage is something that I always wanted to do successfully. It was a dream of mine. I like the official-ness and the family-ness of it all, having the same name and making decisions together," she revealed.
Stefani and Rossdale met in 1995 when No Doubt supported alternative rock band Bush on tour. Rossdale was the guitarist and lead singer for Bush.
The couple tied the knot in September 2002 in St Paul's, Covent Garden in London. They held a second wedding two weeks later. In 2004, the couple's relationship hit a troubled patch when a paternity test revealed Rossdale had a daughter, Daisy Lowe (who was 15 years old at the time), from a previous relationship with model Pearl Lowe.
The pair remained together and in December 2005, Stefani and Rossdale announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their son, Kingston was born in May 2006, and in August 2008, the couple welcomed a second son, Zuma.
