Speaking to the Daily Star, the 31-year-old added that the couple do want children, but it's not the right time.
He said: "Ideally, we both want to have kids now.
"We are in love, we've just bought a new place with room for a baby – but nine months from now I could be playing Glastonbury and it wouldn't be fair."
He continued: "If you are Lily Allen or Adele you can afford to have a year or two off to have kids but I'm not established enough yet. People forget about you too quickly. "
Example is married to Australian model and actress Erin McNaught. They got engaged in November 2012 and married in a private ceremony in Australia in May this year. Only 70 guests attended the couple's nuptials, and the musician has previously admitted he was overcome with emotion when he saw his bride.
He revealed: "I wasn't nervous on the day until the moment I saw Erin walking down the aisle. For the most part I held it together, but as soon as I started reading my vows, I had to shed a few tears."
