The speculation arose after Louis Walsh, the X Factor judge and long-time friend of Cowell's, let slip that the music mogul could be preparing to tie the knot.
Walsh, 53, made the comment at the launch of The X Factor launch last week when asked if Cowell was planning to return to the show.
He said: "He's fantastic on the show because he makes everyone work hard. But he's got to fit in looking after a baby now – and maybe getting married. Totally. I think it's a possibility, I really do."
He added: "I went out for dinner with them. I think he's going to be a great dad. She's [Lauren] a great influence on his life – very positive and bubbly. She seems to have got the fun back into his life. They are like two teenagers dating. I love Lauren. I love all his girlfriends. He is what he is. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him."
Recently, 53-year-old Cowell opened up about his impending fatherhood. He first confirmed the baby news at the premiere of One Direction's 'This Is Us' movie last month, before he spoke to The Times newspaper saying: "I went to see a scan today and it is just surreal. You see this thing, which is now alive moving around. So I am happy."
He added: "Once it's happened, you feel completely different. Once I heard the news about the baby – little bit of a shock, then I got used to it. Then I became incredibly paternal and protective and I feel very attached to the baby already.
"The fact that it can happen at this time of my life is fantastic, maybe a miracle."
In July, a US newspaper revealed the millionaire was to become a parent for the first time with socialite Lauren Silverman. At the time, 36-year-old Ms Silverman was technically still married to her husband – Andrew Silverman – who is also a close friend of Cowell's.
The Silverman's, who have a seven-year-old son together, finalised their divorce in August.
